Knitting Question

I started a new knitting project on Tuesday.  This is what it looks like so far.
This is the "back" and I know it's supposed to look like this.
But why do I have this on the front edge where I've added the new color of yarn?  What am I doing wrong? Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

  1. I wish I could tell you off hand the answer to your question. It is strange that it is just on the short amount of your row. Obviously it has something to do with how you changed the color yarn. I will see what happens in the morning and try to do a swatch and change colors. I haven't knitted in so long that while I am sure I could just do I can't think how to explain the color change process. Not sure how you do yours.

    1. Thanks Jen. I think I'm trying to work the end in as I go. I'm going to see what happens when I change colors next time.

  2. Always start a new colour at the start of a knit row, have you woven your ends in?, it could be those woven ends you can see. Weave them only on the wrong side or leave them and weave them with a tapestry needle later. Has one of the loose ends got caught up in your work. Hope you can sort it, let me know if you manage to resole it :)

    2. I think I'm trying to weave in the end as I go. I bet you're right. I will be switching colors again soon, so I will be extra careful to see what I'm doing. Thanks for your help!

  3. i thought i had told you, i but i probably forgot shelly, when you start a new color, start the other color or another skein of a different color, on the same side you started your first color..this way, its always on the same side..
sorry about that...i thought i had told you....

    1. Thanks for your help. You probably told me and I forgot about it. I ended up ripping it all out last night and starting over. I want to make sure I'm doing it the right way. When I get to the point where I add the other color, I'm going to look it up on YouTube to see what I'm doing wrong. Thanks again for your help. :)
